Heathers is back with all the wit and charm of the film!
The original mean girls hit the stage last week in TUTS Underground's production of Heathers! This high school romp is, of course, based on the film that starred Wynona Rider and Christian Slater boasting catchy tunes and snarky dialogue. We once again are following outsider Veronica as she tries to navigate high school and slowly becomes wrapped up in the popular world of the chick clique the Heathers. Attempting to tow the line between High School goddess and average seventeen-year-old proves to be complicated, but it gets even more complex when she meets JD the dark and mystery new kid that has arrived at her school.
Staying fairly true to the original film you can't help but find yourself bobbing your head along to the music and really getting into the story. The cast does a phenomenal job of bringing some of these iconic characters to life on the stage with Kathryn Porterfield as Heather Chandler really showing us just how wicked this girl can be. McKenna Marmolejo as Veronica really nails her dialogue bring bulk of the hilarious snark to the stage.
Overall this show is a win and one I highly recommend taking some time to go see. TUTS Underground can truly be counted on to bring some really original material to the stage for audiences outside of the usually blockbuster fair that their big theater shows and Heathers is no exception. Do not miss this mean girl masterpiece playing at TUTS Underground now through May 8th!
